Val d'Orcia from the end of April to the end of May
On this second trip to Tuscany, a stay of about 35 days, I focused on the region of Val d'Orcia and in particular its southern region. Based from an agriturismo near Montepulciano, I roamed daily across this spectacular countryside of rolling hills and river valleys. All was in various shades of fully saturated greens due to a wet winter and on many days storm systems swept through the area providing spectacular clouds and dynamic weather conditions.
The blend of photography is roughly half landscapes and half village compositions. A sideways trip to Cortona on two separate days was my only deviation from total immersion into southern Val d'Orcia and, for me, the heart of this quiet but beautiful part of Italy.
